IIDA Announces the Best of Competition Winner for the 50th Annual Interior Design Competition

IIDA announced the Best of Competition winner for one of the most prestigious industry recognitions: the 2024 Interior Design Competition, celebrating innovative interior design and architecture. The 2024 Interior Design Competition Best of Competition winner is Bates Smart in association with KCCT for the firm’s work on The Embassy of Australia, Washington D.C.

“It is an honor to recognize and celebrate this year's Best of Competition winner,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “This year’s winner showcased the skill and ingenuity it takes to create a masterful design that truly represents the best in its class.” 

Entries were chosen by a jury including the following distinguished design experts: RATIO Design Principal and Interiors Studio Leader, Andrea Caputo, IIDA; Arcadis Principal and Creative Director, Robin Elmsie Osler, IIDA, AIA; and Architecture Research Office LC Principal, Kim Yao, FAIA.  

“The submissions we received this year pushed the envelope when it comes to design excellence,” said Caputo on behalf of the jury. “This design and execution set a standard that will inspire future designers, through masterful use of materials. They blended elegance and simplicity leading to a magical experience for those in the space.”

The Best of Competition winner was announced during Revel in Design, IIDA's black-tie event, at The Four Seasons Chicago on Sunday, June 9.
