PCI Members Open Their Doors for Precast Days

Members of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) are welcoming students and other visitors to their plants for 2024 PCI Precast Days, which started Monday and lasts through October 18.

“We look forward to hosting another PCI Precast Days at our Midland, Va., plant,” said Ashley Smith, president and CEO of PCI precast concrete producer Smith-Midland. “The event provides a unique opportunity to showcase the versatility and durability of precast concrete, not just to industry professionals and our community, but to also inspire the next generation of precasters, engineers, and architects.” Smith-Midland will conduct tours and give several presentations on Thursday, October 10.

“PCI Precast Days is a terrific opportunity for PCI members and suppliers to educate people outside the precast concrete industry about the material’s many attributes,” said Bob Risser, PCI president and CEO. “Future industry leaders might look back and remember learning about precast concrete for the first time at 2024 PCI Precast Days.”

PCI’s 154 producer members operate 263 PCI-certified plants. In 2023, PCI’s producer members’ sales totaled $7.6 billion. Prestressed concrete has been used in North American for more than six decades. It is manufactured off-site in a controlled environment with a high degree of quality control. The material is used in both architectural and structural applications. PCI’s members focus primarily on aboveground projects, including low- to high-rise buildings, parking structures, bridges, and other structures.
