Perkins&Will Welcomes New Director of Operations to Austin Studio

Karen Krauskopf has joined global architecture and design firm Perkins&Will as a principal and director of operations in its Austin studio.

In her new role, Krauskopf will help shape the studio's culture and uphold its commitment to design excellence. Her expertise will support the studio's financial and operational efficiency, while also promoting its growth across market sectors.

“I am thrilled to join the Perkins&Will team and look forward to expanding our presence in Austin and the Southwest,” says Krauskopf. “The firm has an incredible reputation for advancing the vitality and well-being of communities around the globe through design, and I am eager to contribute to its collaborative culture.”

Leadership Rooted in Experience

With nearly 20 years of architectural experience, Krauskopf has a proven track record of creating transformative spaces for a range of clients across market sectors, while also spearheading strategic business and professional development initiatives. After earning her Master of Architecture from the University of Houston, Krauskopf worked as a project architect, project manager, and eventually as a studio director, leading diverse teams on complex projects. In her previous roles, she spearheaded the delivery of corporate campuses, cultural projects, and mixed-use developments, including both new construction and adaptive reuse. At Perkins&Will, she will bring her innovative approach to everything from urban architecture to elevating the Perkins&Will brand in Austin.

Understanding the Human Experience at all Scales

Krauskopf's architectural philosophy is centered on the human experience at all scales. She believes that every aspect of the built environment is important, from the way design interacts with us from the outside to how it shapes our experiences inside and in the spaces between built structures. To Krauskopf, the human experience of architecture extends beyond the end-users, and also encompasses those who create and deliver the concept, as well as the clients who commission it.

Krauskopf is passionate about uncovering the ‘why' behind each project, and recognizing its significance to the broader community. She approaches each project holistically, collaborating closely with her clients to leverage all elements of design in advancing their business goals, brand, and culture.

Positioning Austin’s Exponential Growth

"Karen is a natural leader that is truly passionate about the future of our city," says Koleman Uresti, managing director of the Austin studio.  "Her commitment to driving innovation across teams to create resilient communities and deliver exemplary work to her clients makes her an invaluable asset to the Perkins&Will team.”

Krauskopf recognizes that Austin is poised for exponential growth, and sees her role as a designer to help enhance the city's quality of life and ensure it retains its distinct identity. Krauskopf will focus on cultivating a healthy and innovative studio culture, enabling Perkins&Will's talent to stay ahead of the curve in creating vibrant, beautiful, prosperous, and resilient communities.
