International Ideas Competition for Young Architects to Transform Party Walls

The call, made jointly with UNESCO and the International Union of Architects, is the first step towards the World Capital of Architecture 2026 and is part of the legacy that the event will leave in the city;

The objective is to implement the winning proposals on a dividing wall in each district, all of them permanent dividing walls that have become new facades and that will not disappear or be covered by other buildings according to the current planning;

This call has been launched within the framework of the Barcelona Architecture Weeks which has already been a success since its starting point on May 14th, reaching over 30,000 visitors and offering more than 180 activities around the city.

In 2026 Barcelona will be The World Capital of Architecture and host the UIA World Congress of Architecture, but its mark and impact will go beyond this year. In this sense, it is proposed that the legacy it leaves in the city will be through two paths, one of which will be this competition, and the other, a large-scale model of the city linked to a space for reflection and dissemination of architecture. The competition has an international scope, endorsed by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and following UNESCO criteria, and developed jointly with the IMPU. The competition aims to involve young architects, with a degree in any country in the world and under 35 years of age.
